We are RLP

Reversed Lens Photography is the combined work of Will Darden and Emma Easley Darden. Each of us has a slightly different style, allowing us to work together to catch both the expected and unexpected moments. This blog is our daily work-- some of it is from our shoots and some from the images captures while just living our life with our baby girl and our crazy friends. Hope you enjoy the glimpse.

Daily Photo: Flying

I love being able to escape to the park again. She's really learning to love the swings, and the slide, too, which was not a favorite last year. Too bad the rain is coming back tonight!

Daily Photo: Baby flops

My favorite purchase of late
(earlier in the week, but the pic is from today)
Baby flipflops: $2.00
More flipflops: $2.00 (I bought four pairs, total)
Watching her learn how to walk in them: priceless

Daily Photo: So his style

The inside says, "This is the inside of it!!!" It even has a back message: "Here's the back!!!" I can't take credit, though, as it was birthday wishes from our friends J & K.

Happy birthday baby!

Daily Photo: Roots and buds

This is our third year nursing a transplant from Will's family's homestead in Idaho. I need to consult a horticulturalist on the next step but for now, we're just happy that it's thriving. It seems appropos to post this on the eve of Will's b'day, yes?

We went to Portland's First Thursday walk tonight with friends.

I'm such a sucker-- I read these over and over and over again.

Daily Photo: It means Table

We had an amazing birthday dinner for Will last night at Tabla Restaurant. Go there. Tonight. It was absolutely fabulous.

Daily Photo: Bluster

Will's lunch time wanderings produced this.

Daily Photo: Ponderance

Sometimes I worry when her face gets serious like that.

Daily Photo: Watcher

She was watching her father, a common occurrence. Her talent for mimicry is astounding, but her ability for stillness is the true gift.

We must be doing something right.

Gus took some night shots up above the city.

Daily Photo: The good stuff

Chie and her friend Teddy rummaging through the packing materials. I had no idea that they would get so much entertainment from popcorn!

Daily Photo: Carpet picnic

Lunch was leftovers from Pastini and so we had a little cop-a-squat action in the living room.

Daily Photo: Growing

You may recognize Dayli from her newborn shoot. She's now a very busy little eight month old!

Daily Photo: Pizza bianca

We made this amazing recipe off of Tastespotting, and then topped it with some more fresh veggies. It's my new craving.

Daily Photo: Baby aardy

We've been taking a lot of trips to the park together. This was taken at Aardvark Fun Park.

Daily Photo: PJ toes

We spent a large portion of the day in our pajamas chilling at home. It's so bleary out that it's the only thing that really makes sense.

Off track

We're having issues with our card reader, so it may be a day or two before I post the next batch. Hopefully no one is waiting with bated breath.

Burst of yellow

Forsythia that we used in our display at the wedding open house on Saturday at Persimmon Country Club.

Purpose?

We had the northwest version of a snow storm on Monday. Will couldn't get down our very, very steep driveway for a few hours so he took the baby out to see "SOOOOOO!!!!" When she got to it, though, she couldn't quite figure it out.

Better than nothing

This is what we call a "fast shot": we were playing with our soft box on Sunday but it's the only shot we took that day.

Devotion

I may make a (back-dated) post with some of the photos from the last few weeks that just haven't gotten posted in the all of the wedding craziness. I am making another valiant stab, though.

Tallit (prayer robes) outside of the shul's sanctuary at the bat mitzvah at Congregation Shaarie Torah.

Balanced

We went out with Gus' coworkers last night and so we were missing leftovers for lunch. I opted for lightness-- plain yogurt with cranberry-orange granola.

First of many

I had another picture planned for today. But during the afternoon, Chie was sitting in my lap with the camera (she loves to mimic us on everything and this is no exception) and she shot this. She was very proud of herself as she held it up-- quite a feat for a not-quite-two-year-old-- and said, "Pit-chers!" The light at the end is of her bedroom window, as you come out of our hallway.

I heart you

Our much-beloved child care person is moving on to greener pastures (read: a full-time, high-paying nanny gig) and so she threw a little party for Chie and her friends. This was her take-home gift.

Remnants

Emma has been painting our bedroom a very brilliant shade of blue. She says that it will be a nice space to work. Here's hoping.

Piled up

After our client meeting, we stopped by Uncle Paul's Produce Market. It's a giant tent full of farm fresh goodies. I think I snapped about fifteen photos, but these just looked so luscious.

It can haz be weakend yet?

You know, I think these 3 day weeks are actually harder on me than the 5 day ones. At least when I have a 5 day week, I can sleep at work sometimes.

(If anyone I work with reads this, please know that I Don't Sleep At Work. Really.)

Self-portrait in a bag

If you look closely, you can see my reflection in the ornaments. I was too tired to actually go down and get the boxes out to put Christmas away. But I was also tired of saying, "No, baby, one finger touch." So they're just in a bag.

Carb attack

Our daughter is obsessed with "su-we-all." She regularly requests "buh-ees" (aka Annie's Honey Bunnies) and "num-noh" (oatmeal). I guess she's getting her fiber.

Composed

From one of our two "wedding" shoots today.
